Komorebi at Starved Rock

Starved Rock State Park - Komorebi Maple TreesKomorebi is the Japanese word for when the sunlight filters through the leave of the trees. It’s about how the sunlight plays with the layers of the leaves and the gorgeous scenes they create together. I’ve always been particularly pleased with this idea, there’s something so simple and peaceful about it. Although English doesn’t provide a single word for the situation, I’m happy to know that another language pulled through for us.

Our visit to Starved Rock State Park was full. There was so much to see and learn about, I feel I have only just begun. You can read more about that trip here. For now, I want to share a few images of some of the Komorebi I spied from the day…
