August was a beautiful month, while the garden was still full of new growth, we also began to see signs of the end of summer. Flower buds started to seed as fall air moves in. July in Chicago is typically hot and humid mixed with a few good storms – that’s how this July went down. The Yard in June
June is the month where the yard starts feeling really full and lush. By the time May is over we start to see the end of the spring flowers as we make way for summer blooms and the hotter weather. Flower Seeds
My yard is fairly chaotic, new plants sprout up daily and it can be difficult to decipher which sprout is desirable or not. I’m sure I have pulled a few “wrong” sprouts over the years, but that’s okay, managing weeds and a garden is a never ending story. This year I wanted to try to add a few new flowers to the yard. Since I’ve never grown these varieties before and I don’t know what they look like when they’re young, I thought it would be fun to start them from seed first.
